Karen Woods Weierman, Ph.D. is Professor of English and Director of the Commonwealth Honors Program at Worcester State University. She is the author of One Nation, One Blood: Interracial Marriage in American Fiction, Scandal, and Law, 1820–1870 (University of Massachusetts Press, 2005). Her current book project, The Case of the Slave-Child, Med: The Moral Geography of Antislavery Boston, explores a slave transit case that transformed the law of American slavery.
