Jonathan Tarleton

Interviewer

Jonathan Tarleton is a writer, urbanist, and oral historian living in Brooklyn as well as project associate for Urban Omnibus, a publication of the Architectural League of New York.  Prior to heading north, Jonathan earned a B.A. in Latin American Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill where he also worked with the Southern Oral History Program (SOHP). While with the SOHP, Jonathan began researching a 1990s student movement for a black cultural center at UNC and continues to collect oral histories around the movement today. In addition to oral history, Jonathan is very interested in the effect of the built environment on well-being, and enjoys learning and writing about the policies, spaces, and communities that make New York City the enticing and confounding city that it is. Above all he loves to learn how people form and maintain community in a changing world.
