Whitley Watson

Whitley Watson was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia. Watson attended Chattahoochee High School in Alpharetta and the University of Georgia at Athens, where she received a B.F.A. in scientific illustration. Later, she moved the New York City, where she lived in Flushing, Queens and Bushwick, Brooklyn, and worked as a freelance artist and an administrative assistant.

"It gets really, really frustrating, because people do think people from the south are all just like redneck crazy racists, and they think that you come up here and are in this paradise of stuff, and it’s like no, people are still -- there’s a lot of problems up here."
