Biography
Teresa Ish was born in Fresno, California and raised near Clovis, California. She is of Chinese-Malaysian and Swedish descent. Ish attended the University of California at Santa Cruz, where she earned a B.A. in environmental studies and biology, and an M.S. in marine science. During her graduate studies, Ish co-founded Fish Wise, a nonprofit organization that promotes seafood sustainability.

"Most people would not even guess that I was half Chinese. It’s really nice for traveling. If I keep my mouth shut, I can kind of fake it almost anywhere. But, you know, obviously once I speak everyone knows I’m American."
